‘FACES CHANGE’
FACES CHANGE is a body of sixteen fine-art photographs by Alina Gozin’a, made in the heart of Sydney. Treating the camera less as a witness than as a paintbrush, Gozin’a gives up sharp detail in favour of smeared light, softened edges and passers-by glimpsed only as silhouettes. The city’s pulse is rendered in saturated colour and restless movement, its figures drifting through a painterly haze.
What results is less a record of place than a record of sensation: the city as it is felt rather than documented. The work asks what we see once we stop insisting on clarity, and who we become in the blur.
