Alina GOZIN’A has been appointed Inaugural Artist in Residence twice:
at Time&Place, and at The Sandstones Club, Sydney, Australia.
The Artist in Residence is one of the oldest marks of cultural distinction, where art is not decoration but a permanent signal of taste and cultural capital: a lineage running from the Villa Medici in Rome to Claridge's in London, the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and Ace Hotel worldwide.

The Sandstones Club - Inaugural Artist in Residence (May 2026 – Present)
On 11 May 2026, Alina Gozin'a was appointed inaugural Artist in Residence at The Sandstones Club, set within The Lands by Capella in the heart of Sydney's CBD - a club built where business, arts and culture cross-pollinate.
The residency sits at the intersection of cultural inquiry, visual storytelling and creative leadership. As part of it, Gozin'a presents her Art of Seeing keynote (represented by Saxton) to the Club's members and distinguished guests, extending a body of work that has already reached audiences at Oracle, Mastercard, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG to name a few.
The appointment coincided with the publication of her essay, Creativity Isn't Fluff. It Never Was, by TEDxSydney in May 2026 - a fitting note for a residency built on the conviction that creative intelligence belongs at the centre of business, not its margins.
Time & Place - Inaugural Artist in Residence (March 2024 – March 2026)
The best developers don't just build places, they build culture. In 2024, Alina Gozin'a was appointed the inaugural Artist in Residence at Time&Place, one of Australia's most distinguished developers - the vision behind Ace Hotel Australia. What followed was two years and four instalments of an exceptionally fruitful collaboration, proof that art, properly commissioned, becomes cultural capital rather than decoration.

Alina Gozin’a

Alina Gozin'a holds a distinctive place in Australia's cultural landscape. Born in Odessa, she has built a prolific international practice having worked across Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Hamburg. Gozin'a is a transdisciplinary artist. Her global, culturally diverse perspective shapes her practice that moves fluidly between the studio and the boardroom, cross-pollinating arts and culture with business and communities in a way few practitioners can claim. It is this rare fluency across both the right and left brain hemispheres — creative and analytical, imaginative and strategic - that defines her practice, sets her apart, and makes her increasingly in demand in the AI era.
As an artist, Alina moves between fine-art photography, optical-illusion artworks and eroded brass photographic plates.
Her art looks backwards to understand the present: she investigates pivotal historical events and their ripple effects on humanity, connecting intimate human narratives to broader civic and historical dialogue.
Artist in Residence
Alina has been appointed Inaugural Artist in Residence twice: at Time&Place (March 2024–March 2026), and at The Sandstones Club (May–October 2026).
Within each residency, she creates new artwork, delivers her Art of Seeing keynote, and shapes the surrounding culture through programming and partnerships - converting creative capital into lasting commercial value.
As a renowned photographer, she has captured some of the world’s most influential leaders for major publications, including Scott Farquhar, Sir Frank Lowy, Andrew Forrest, Canva’s co-founders Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht & also Canva’s co-founder Cameron Adams, Nicolas Berggruen, Christine Lagarde, Sam Mostyn AC - the Governor-General of Australia, Anthony Pratt, Gretel Packer, Judith Neilson, Apollo 16 Astronaut Charles Duke, Axios’ founders Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen, South Park’sTrey Parker & Matt Stone, Oscar winners Alicia Vikander and Emile Sherman, as well as Ewan McGregor, Michael Shannon, Anthony LaPaglia,Maya Mask to mention a few.
Exhibitions & Recognition
Alina has held solo exhibitions in Sydney and New York, with her work achieving international recognition and inclusion in prestigious awards and institutions. Her artworks form part of distinguished corporate and private collections, underscoring their cultural significance and lasting impact.Her artwork Monkey Business received a Gold Prize at the London Photographic Association Portraiture Competition and was exhibited as a finalist at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. Her work has been recognised in major competitions including Head On, Olive Cotton, Sydney Life and the National Photographic Portrait Prize, Art & About Sydney, and other prestigious art festivals. Her artwork has also activated publicly accessible environments including Westfield Sydney, Charter Hall, Dexus, QIC and Rydges (Sydney Airport), expanding contemporary photographic practice beyond traditional gallery contexts.She is represented in Australia by Wentworth Galleries, where she has held multiple solo exhibitions.
Gozin'a's celebrated New York exhibition, The Doormen of New York, was three years in development. Opening to critical acclaim, the series captured the dignity and quiet authority of men bound by the secrecy of their profession — silent confessions offering a rare and intimate window into New York's iconic doorman culture, and paying homage to the immigrant foundations upon which the city was built.
For the past decade, Alina has been immersed in her landmark body of work, Confessions of the Heart (2016–2026): a four-part photographic essay created across New York and Sydney. This decade-long cycle culminates in Sydney Love Stories, featuring 50 documentary-style portraits of both notable Sydney personalities and everyday citizens, accompanied by handwritten love confessions.Alina has been awarded the opportunity to open this as a public art exhibition at the Muru Gigili Tunnel, 1 Elizabeth St, Sydney, the HQ of Macquarie Bank and the hub of the financial district.
As a director, Alina was nominated for the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions for her debut commercial 3 Fat Babushkas, and later directed the Screen Australia-funded documentary Life on the Rocks.
Keynote & Advisory Board
Alina serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the UTS-TD School at the University of Technology Sydney, the world's pioneering faculty for Creative Intelligence & Innovation.
A global advocate for the role of Creative Intelligence in an AI-powered economy, Alina delivers The Art of Seeing, her acclaimed keynote. She has presented to Oracle, KPMG, Mastercard, PwC, Deloitte, Charter Hall, New Chambers, Pendal, G100, the Sydney Stock Exchange, Cox Architecture, Dexus, Woollahra Council, IMAA, House of Complexity, and academic institutions including UNSW, UTS, AFTRS, the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and The New York Photography Workshop.
She has lectured in Creative Intelligence and Photography in both Sydney and New York, and represented by Saxton Speakers for keynotes and leadership programs.
Cultural Stewardship
Juror
In 2025, Alina was a juror at the Persian Film Festival (Sydney).In 2024, she co-judged the Woollahra Council Youth Photographic Award & Short Film Prize alongside Luke Doolan, an Oscar-nominated director, recognising local high school students (Years 7–12) for creative photography and filmmaking.
Community Work & Philanthropy
Driven by her belief in the power of creativity to change lives, Alina partners with community organisations including Art Start (New York), I-Manifest, MMAD with Universal Music (Sydney). Her work focuses on empowering underprivileged youth through creativity, storytelling, and culture. She has also donated her Artworks and The Art of Seeing VIP masterclasses to The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Charlie Teo FoundationandThe Royal Hospital for Women Foundation.

Alina's essay, Creativity Isn't Fluff. It Never Was, was published by TEDxSydney in May 2026. In 2021, she featured in a TEDxSydney video and article, Hybrid Work: The Belonging Imperative, alongside Sam Mostyn AC and Stan Grant. Her work and ideas have also been featured by The Australian Financial Review, the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC TV, ABC radio, SBS Radio, various podcasts and other media.
